Studied Biology (Diploma) and Musicology at the Justus-Liebig University Giessen (1979-1986). Scientist at the German Cancer Research Centre at the Institute of Cell and Tumor Biology, Heidelberg. 1989 Doctorate at the Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg. Scientist at the Endocrinological Research Laboratory at the Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich, Grosshadern Hospital (1990-1991). Senior Scientist at the Federal Office of Radiation Protection, Neuherberg, Munich (1991-1994). Assistant Professor at the University of Rostock, Institute of Cell Biology and Biosystems Technology and Head of the Environmental Physiology Unit (1994-2007). 2001 Habilitation in Molecular Biology and venia legendi (Privatdozent). Since 2005, Guest professor at the University Örebro, Life Science Center, Sweden and since November 2007 Professor for Cell Biology (teaching activities) at the University of Rostock. Since November 2007 researcher at ITA in the nanotechnologies project.
